May 2, 2025 became a historic day for Denmark.
The Danish Parliament has decided that the medical cannabis scheme should be made permanent – a decision that both strengthens patients' rights, promotes innovation within natural treatment and marks an important step towards a more holistic view of health.

From January 1, 2026, patients using medical cannabis will be able to continue their treatment with security and stability. It is no longer an experimental scheme, but a recognized part of the Danish healthcare system .

🌿 A milestone for patients – and for nature's place in medicine

Since the medical cannabis trial was launched in 2018 , thousands of patients have found relief through cannabis-based treatments.
Many have used it as an alternative or supplement to traditional painkillers, antidepressants, or sleep medications – often with fewer side effects and a better sense of natural balance.

That's exactly what the decision is about: giving patients a choice .
A choice where nature is once again allowed to play a role in modern treatment.

💡 What does the change in law mean specifically?

The new law, which was passed under the name “Bill L135” , means:

  • Patients can continue their treatment with medical cannabis without fear of the trial expiring.
  • Doctors will receive better guidance from the Danish Medicines Agency so that they can safely prescribe cannabis products.
  • The 50% government subsidy continues unchanged – making the treatment more affordable.
  • The Danish Health Authority is adjusting the guidelines regarding driving and medical cannabis so that the rules become more realistic in relation to patients' daily lives.

In short: Denmark is moving from experiments to the future.

🌱 STENOCARE – Danish pioneer in medical cannabis

A central player behind the development is the Danish company STENOCARE A/S , which has been working since 2017 to make prescription-based medical cannabis available in Denmark and internationally.

They were the first Danish company to be granted permission to import, grow and produce medical cannabis under the strict EU-GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards.
Their work has shown that Denmark can combine pharmaceutical quality with natural plant-based medicine – in a responsible way.

🌸 A new era for natural well-being in Denmark

At Postman Flowers, we see this decision as an important symbolic and practical development.
We believe that nature contains a profound intelligence – and that many modern health challenges can be alleviated when we dare to turn to nature's own solutions.

The cannabis plant is a good example. It has been used medicinally for millennia – in China, India and the Middle East – long before it became associated with stigma.
Today, modern research shows that cannabinoids like CBD and THC affect the body's endocannabinoid system , which helps regulate sleep, mood, pain, and immune function.

With the new law, Denmark officially recognizes that the plant's potential does not only belong to the past - but to the future .

⚖️ The difference between recreational and medical cannabis

It is important to distinguish between recreational cannabis (use for pleasure) and medical cannabis (use for relief).
Medical cannabis is prescribed by doctors, dosed precisely and checked for quality and purity.
It's not about "getting high," but about regaining calm, pain relief, and balance .

For many patients – for example with chronic pain, multiple sclerosis or side effects from chemotherapy – medical cannabis has made a significant difference in quality of life.

🌍 Denmark as a green frontrunner in Europe

With this decision, Denmark once again positions itself as a green frontrunner in Europe .
We show that innovation and nature can easily go hand in hand – and that responsible regulation can create both health, growth and knowledge .

At the same time, the law opens the door for new Danish companies, research and products within cannabis and plant-based health .

🌼 At Postman Flowers

We work based on the same philosophy:
That nature is not just beautiful – it heals, balances and connects .
Whether it's flowers, fragrance, CBD products or natural ingredients, we believe that well-being starts with respect for nature .

We are therefore pleased that Denmark now officially recognizes natural medicine – as part of our shared health future.
